We are glad to announce that Biophysics PhD programme is now classified under Interdisciplinary Natural Sciences.

The University is dominant scientific institution in Dalmatian region of Croatia (Southern Croatia). Split is an old town (over 1700 years old) located on the coast. Several sandy beaches are still an integral part of the town which is surrounded by forested hills and has mild very pleasant climate.

The University of Split (Croatia) has majority of academic staff working in Natural, Medical Sciences and Technology. 
The University of Split expanded in recent years to include 11 faculties, two colleges, as well as several other institutes and scientific departments. University teachers are enrolled in a number of interregional and international cooperations. Currently, University of Split is in the process of building the University Campus.
Physics is now in the process of fast expansion into interdisciplinary fields (e.g. biophysics, astrophysics, computational physics and environmental physics). Department of physics employs 27 people, including 11 professors (compared to only 4 in 2003), 5 of which graduated from EU or US universities.
More than 100 students are enrolled in various physics programs at the Department. Biophysics program runs the full educational ladder from B.Sc to M.Sc. and Ph.D. study. Faculty of Science has 55 PhD staff, and interdisciplinary development vision connecting physics, molecular biology, biochemistry and mathematics with a double goal to offer modern education to its students (7500 B.Sc. degrees total up to this year) and to create fertile interdisciplinary research programs in biophysics, environmental physics, biology and biochemistry.
